N. Kettirou: Budgets are a Political Choice

AKEL MP, Nikos Kettirou, emphasized during the discussion of the state budget in Parliament that the budget discussion is not a simple accounting exercise, but a purely political choice.
Mr. Kettirou stated that his position is a review of responsibility and an assessment of the work of Parliament. He also referred to his experience as chairman of the Committee on Refugees, Enclaved, Missing and Affected Persons, emphasizing the need to treat refugees with sensitivity and humanity.
Furthermore, Nikos Kettirou stressed that the loss of occupied property was a loss of livelihood and criticized the government for the management of the Equal Distribution of Burdens Fund.
He also referred to AKEL's bill on the absorption of the Fund's reserve for the benefit of refugees, which was voted down by other parties.
Finally, Mr. Kettirou referred to the need to address the housing problem as a social crisis and to improve services to citizens.
