A noticeable increase in pensions is expected from the pension reform, especially for low-income pensioners, stated the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas.

In an interview with "Phileleftheros," he estimated that the first phase of the reform, concerning the Social Insurance Fund, could be implemented from January 1, 2027.

The aim is to increase pensions, remove distortions, decide on the management model of the SIF and its investment policy, as well as the gradual repayment of the state's debt to the Fund.

The Minister stated that the second pillar of insurance, concerning the Provident Funds, cannot proceed immediately, requiring an upgrade of the supervisory authority.

Regarding the proportional reduction of 12%, the Minister said that there will be a downward differentiation, but it cannot be abolished.

Asked about the hourly return of the minimum wage, Mr. Mousiouttas said that the study being prepared should include this permanent request of the unions.
