Moratorium on ATA declarations: Efforts for a mediation proposal

A moratorium on declarations for the ATA (Automatic Cost of Living Adjustment) was decided during the meeting of the Minister of Labor, Giannis Panagiotou, with social partners.

The general manager of OEB (Employers and Industrialists Federation), Michalis Antoniou, stated on Alpha television that a serious effort will be made for the Minister of Labor to submit a mediation proposal.

Michalis Antoniou stressed that the equation is difficult, but with goodwill, there is cautious optimism.

The unions insist on the full reinstatement and expansion of the ATA, while the employers' organizations consider the institution outdated and demand its abolition.

The Minister of Labor assured that the June milestone for the completion of the consultation will be observed and expressed the view that reaching an agreement is feasible.

The new ideas of the ministry for the modernization of the institution remain to be clarified.
