Letybiotis: Condemnation of Khan's presence in occupied territories

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letybiotis described the visit of British MP Afzal Khan to the occupied territories and his photo with the occupation leader as "condemnable and unacceptable."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made representations to the British Government, which stressed that the visit was in Khan's personal capacity, without prior notice. Representations were made to him regarding his unacceptable behavior.
Letybiotis stated that such actions create false impressions and are contrary to the British Governments' long-standing position of non-recognition of the pseudo-state.
British MPs also expressed protests, following actions by the Federation of Cypriots of the United Kingdom. British MP Wendy Morton expressed "deep concern" about the visit, noting that it undermines the credibility of the United Kingdom in negotiations on the Cyprus problem.
Khan is a Labour MP and Trade Envoy of the United Kingdom to Turkey.
