Limassol: Azeri Spy Arrested Before Possible Attack

In Limassol, an Azeri man suspected of terrorism was arrested shortly before a possible attack on a military target. The suspect was brought before the Limassol District Court under heavy security.
The Azeri, who was arrested in a luxury apartment in Zakaki, is not cooperating with the authorities. Investigators from TAE Nicosia requested an 8-day extension of his detention, as laboratory tests are pending.
According to reports, the suspect was ready to take action and was informing his handlers. A message was found on one of his mobile phones indicating readiness to execute instructions, possibly for an attack on a military target.
Authorities are in contact with Greek police regarding the case of a 26-year-old Azeri in Crete, with whom the 44-year-old appears to have had joint activities.
Information received by the authorities from foreign services places him outside the British military bases in Akrotiri and the Andreas Papandreou Base.
