Costa: European solidarity with Cyprus and international law

The President of the European Council, António Costa, emphasized the importance of European solidarity with Cyprus and the defense of international law during a speech in Brussels.
Costa referred to the deployment of forces from Greece, France, Italy, and Spain to protect Cyprus, describing it as "a strong example of European autonomy and unwavering solidarity."
He also expressed concern about developments in the Middle East, highlighting Iran's responsibility for the tension in the region and attacks against neighboring countries, including Cyprus.
The President of the European Council called on all parties to exercise restraint and return to negotiations, while warning of the dangers of further escalation.
Finally, Costa stressed the importance of multilateral cooperation and support for the United Nations, as well as the EU's commitment to its values and international cooperation.
