Closed-door Consultations at UN Security Council on Cyprus Issue

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Cyprus, Kasim Dian, briefed the member states of the UN Security Council in closed-door consultations in New York on Thursday.

The briefing covered the content of the Secretary-General's two reports. Mr. Dian, who is also the head of the UNFICYP peacekeeping force, made no statements after the consultations, stating “that we are still at an early stage.”

The UN Security Council meeting to renew the UNFICYP mandate is scheduled for Thursday, January 29.
