KKE Criticizes Drilling in Cyprus and Greece

KKE has criticized the statements of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Christodoulides regarding drilling activities in Cyprus and Greece. According to KKE, the history of drilling in Cyprus has disproven those who believed that the involvement of multinationals would positively affect the Cyprus issue and the sovereign rights of Cyprus.
The KKE states that the government is repeating this narrative for Greece and the energy agreements with the USA, from which, it claims, the people will not benefit. On the contrary, the country will find itself at the center of competition and will be used as a lever to impose a co-exploitation regime in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean.
Furthermore, the KKE referred to the case of the electrical interconnection between Greece – Cyprus – Israel, which has caused intervention and obstruction from the Turkish government. (APE)
