«Álma» Movement: Accusations of Government Cover-Up in Corruption Cases

The «Álma – Citizens for Cyprus» Movement has launched a strong attack against the Christodoulides government, accusing it of complicity in impunity which, it claims, fuels corruption.
In a statement, the Movement referred to the case of the Deputy General Director of the Ministry of Defence and the allegations made by Ms. Aristotelous against the Assistant Chief of Police, Michalis Katsounotos.
«Álma» reminded that in 2022 the Attorney General prevented the investigation of Mr. Katsounotos for possible criminal offenses, as well as his prosecution in the case of the Assistant Attorney General.
The Movement claims that the government has unjustifiably delayed disciplinary action against Mr. Katsounotos and that he has protection from both the government and the Legal Service.
