Kikilias Meets with US Coast Guard Europe Commander

Minister of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, met with the US Coast Guard Europe Commander, Captain Neeland, at the Ministry. According to Mr. Kikilias, the meeting reaffirmed the strong cooperation in the field of maritime security.
Mr. Kikilias emphasized that Greece is at the forefront of addressing illegal immigration and bears a large burden of increased migration flows. He also mentioned that the US faces similar challenges, making cooperation important.
The minister pointed out that the primary goal is the safety of citizens and referred to the AEGIS 2 program, which includes equipping the Coast Guard with an operational coordination center and state-of-the-art surveillance equipment.
