Kassianidou: Study for Disciplinary Actions After Biennale Investigation

The Deputy Ministry of Culture is studying the findings of the administrative investigation regarding the book that accompanied the Cypriot delegation to the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice (Biennale), following the uproar over references equating the Republic of Cyprus with the illegal pseudo-state and regarding population exchange.

The investigation was ordered after reports by MP Pavlos Mylonas. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Vasiliki Kassianidou, had ordered the withdrawal of the book, stressing that it had not been approved and contained problematic references.

The book's curators disagreed with the withdrawal, citing freedom of expression. Ms. Kassianidou stated that responsibilities will be assigned if violations are found.

The Deputy Ministry has completed the investigation and is evaluating the findings to decide whether to proceed with a disciplinary investigation.
