Izzett: Condemns 'Conspiracy' to Present Greek Cypriots as Spies

The leader of the United Cyprus Party (BKP), İzzet İzzcan, condemned the 'conspiracy' to present five Greek Cypriots as spies in the occupied territories, arguing that this case revealed the nature of the regime.

In a written statement, Mr. İzzcan stated that he attended the 'trial' of the five Greek Cypriots, who were accused of illegal entry and crossing a prohibited military zone. He claimed that the assertion that one of them did not show identification was false, while the reference to the malfunction of security cameras, according to him, reveals the real situation.

Mr. İzzcan argued that the plan was set up for blackmail in relation to the arrest in 'southern Cyprus' of Jewish businessmen and brokers, expressing the view that the issue of property cannot be resolved in this way. He also estimated that the work of the Immovable Property Commission would be negatively affected.

'We condemn the victimization of Cypriots by threats and political blackmail in Cyprus,' said Mr. İzzcan, stressing the need for peace and his commitment to defend the rights and interests of all Cypriots.
