"ISOTITA" to Fytiris: "The Police is not a Barracks"
Share on:

The Pancyprian Union ISOTITA issued a sharp statement responding to the Minister of Justice Kostas Fytiris, emphasizing the need to safeguard democratic accountability.

The union emphasizes that the Police is not a "barracks" and the police officers are not "new recruits" who owe blind obedience. The importance of the distinction between military discipline and conscientious legality is highlighted.

ISOTITA defends the Chairman of the Branch, Nikos Loizidis, rejecting insinuations of a lack of militancy. Reference is also made to a telephone conversation of the Minister on February 1, 2026, where there was allegedly a reference to the "beheading" of Loizidis, which the union describes as an authoritarian mentality.

ISOTITA declares that it will remain committed to the principles of the rule of law, defending the legality and dignity of every police officer.
