Georgiadis: Nurse Shortage is the Biggest Problem of the National Health System

The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, described the shortage of nurses as the biggest problem of the National Health System (ESY), speaking on ERTnews.
Mr. Georgiadis stated that there is a large shortage of nurses throughout the European Union, with some countries importing nurses from other countries, mainly from India.
Regarding efforts to address the problem, the Minister of Health stated that 4,000 new nursing positions will be announced. There are also plans to create a separate nursing branch within the ESY by 2026.
At the same time, efforts are being made to bring Greek doctors back to the ESY, with automatic recognition of degrees and specialization in America.
