Auditor General Investigates LNG Terminal, Prometheus, EAC and GSI

Auditor General Andreas Papaconstantinou, speaking on RIK1, stated that the Audit Office is examining issues concerning the completion of the LNG terminal, the delivery of the liquefied natural gas regasification floating unit "Prometheus" to ETYFA, the electricity interconnection and issues of the EAC.

Regarding "Prometheus", the Office had planned to send auditors to Malaysia in November for inspection, but the mission was postponed after assurances that it would be ready in December 2025. Given that December has ended, an update will be requested and a decision will be made whether to send an auditor.

Regarding the electricity interconnection, Mr. Papaconstantinou mentioned contradictions, as while the Government characterizes it as strategically important, an update study was requested. He expressed his belief that the interconnection will strengthen competition in the electricity market.

In addition, the EAC's delay in the construction of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) parks, in contrast to the private sector, is being investigated. The EAC claims it was hindered by RAEK and the previous Government.
