Y. Panagiotou: Cyprus Presidency Priorities for Labor

The Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Yiannis Panagiotou, discussed the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency regarding the future of Labor with MEPs from the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs of the European Parliament.
According to the Minister, the meeting was constructive for the joint management of employment challenges in the EU. Y. Panagiotou emphasized the importance of cooperation with the European Parliament ahead of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The priorities concern quality jobs, professional skills, social security, and the mobility of workers within the EU. The necessity of further utilizing social dialogue and collective bargaining was confirmed.
The Chair of the Committee, Li Andersson, thanked the Minister and noted the importance of cooperation between the EU and Cyprus, adding that she looks forward to continuing the cooperation during the Presidency.
The delegation also visited the Department of Labor Inspection and the Family Intervention and Support Center for Autism (AKTIδA).
