Famellos: Greece should not be involved in the war, support for Cyprus

The president of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos, stated that Greece should not be involved in the war and supported defensive assistance to the Republic of Cyprus.

During the meeting of the party's Political Secretariat, Mr. Famellos accused the government of having "tied the country to the chariot of Trump and Netanyahu" and called for a meeting of the Council of Political Leaders to chart a national course.

Mr. Famellos stressed that SYRIZA-PS condemned the military attack on Iran and warned of the dangers of military intervention. He also stated that Greece should take initiatives as a factor of peace and stability.

Regarding the Cyprus issue, Mr. Famellos stressed that the dispatch of Turkish F16s is an illegal act and that the resolution of the Cyprus issue should be raised at every opportunity. He called for the resumption of talks from where they left off in Crans Montana.

Finally, Mr. Famellos reiterated that the immediate repatriation of those in the affected areas and the disengagement of sailors is a priority.
