Annual Memorial Service for Ethnarch Makarios Held in Kykkos

The annual religious memorial service for Ethnarch Makarios was held at the Kykkos Monastery, attended by President Christodoulides.
The Minister of Education, Athina Michaelidou, delivered a memorial speech, emphasizing that Archbishop Makarios was a symbol of hope and dignity for the Cypriot people. The Minister referred to the need to continue the struggle for the liberation and reunification of Cyprus, 51 years after the events of 1974.
She highlighted the President's efforts to restart negotiations from where they left off in Crans Montana, with the aim of resolving the Cyprus issue on the basis of UN resolutions and the European Acquis.
Athina Michaelidou expressed hope for cooperation from the Turkish Cypriot side and Turkey, so that there can be a restart of the dialogue soon.
