Commissioner for Administration: High response to individual complaints

The Commissioner for Administration and Human Rights Protection, Maria Stylianou-Lottidi, presented her Office's budget for 2026 to the Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Budget.

According to Ms. Lottidi, the compliance rate of services to the Office's interventions for individual complaints exceeds 90%. The 2026 budget amounts to €2,625,462, with 82.6% concerning payroll and 10.6% operating expenses.

Ms. Lottidi stressed the need to strengthen the Office's staff, given the expanded range of responsibilities, which includes the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Body, the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture, the National Human Rights Authority and the Monitoring Mechanism for Forced Returns.

The Commissioner also referred to the new legislation for persons with disabilities and the bill on demonstrations, as well as cases of sexual harassment.
