A report by the European Parliament's Research Service details the difficulties faced by trapped students in the Rizokarpaso school, in the occupied territories. The report was prepared following a request by MEP Loukas Fourlas.

The report refers to the deprivations, censorship, and adverse conditions experienced by the students, as well as the restrictions on their individual, educational, and religious freedoms.

The report provides a historical overview from 1960 to the present day, with reference to the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the prevailing conditions since then. It also refers to the Third Vienna Agreement and its violation by the Turkish side.

Loukas Fourlas has submitted a request for a delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Culture and Education to visit the area.

The elementary school has 18 students and 16 in kindergarten. The Rizokarpaso Gymnasium and Lyceum have a total of 15 students.
