EDEK Convenes Emergency Meeting After Apostolou's Departure

EDEK responds to MP Andreas Apostolou following his announcement of his departure from the party. The party refutes Apostolou's claims and accuses the MP of inaccuracies.

EDEK expressed surprise and disappointment at Apostolou's move, emphasizing that no consultation had taken place. In response, EDEK is convening an emergency meeting of the Political Bureau next Tuesday, to which Mr. Apostolou will also be invited.

According to EDEK, Mr. Apostolou did not communicate with the new party leadership after its election. Despite repeated attempts by President Nikos Anastasiou and other members of the leadership for coordination, Mr. Apostolou did not respond.

EDEK was awaiting a meeting after the summer holidays to draw up the ballot for the Larnaca District, but there was no response. The EDEK Political Bureau will discuss the matter in an emergency session next Tuesday.
