The installation of 150 new traffic cameras has begun in the occupied territories, donated by Turkey. 130 are fixed and 20 are mobile. Their operation is scheduled for August 15-16, with the presence of Turkish Vice President, Cevdet Yılmaz.

According to statements by the "Minister of Transport," Eran Arıklı, the cameras are new generation from RADARSAN, which belongs to the Turkish Defense Industry. The cameras will send images and videos directly to the "police center." Software has been developed to forward images to the violator's mobile phone.

Mobile cameras will be installed in "police" vehicles. Mr. Arıklı stated that another 150 cameras will be requested and that the new system will transmit information from all crossing points, such as the Agios Dometios checkpoint, the illegal airport in Tymbou, and the ports.

More than half of the violations are committed by Greek Cypriots and rental vehicle drivers. The fine will be sent to the "police" screen and collected immediately at the checkpoint. The cameras will detect violations such as license plate recognition, non-use of seat belts, lane changes without signals, and mobile phone use. They will also operate in the event of a power outage with photovoltaics.
