DISY and Anastasiades Government: Distancing and Questions

The new leadership of Democratic Rally (DISY) appears to be distancing itself from the government of Nikos Anastasiades, despite the involvement of party members in it.

DISY MPs and prospective MPs, such as Haris Georgiadis, Konstantinos Petrides, Michalis Hatzipantelas and Charalambos Petrides, served as ministers in the Anastasiades government. In addition, efforts are being made to persuade Giorgos Pamboridis and Anastasia Anthousi to participate in the ballot.

It is noted that the president of DISY, Annita Demetriou, was the Press Representative of Nikos Anastasiades during the 2018 election campaign.

The ten-year Anastasiades-DISY government had positive and negative elements. However, the attitude of the DISY leadership towards it raises questions, as it seems to disown its history.
