Tychikos' Lawyer: Archbishop is 'Latinizing'
The lawyer of the deposed Metropolitan Tychikos accuses the Archbishop of Cyprus of 'Latinizing' and calls on him to sign a confession of faith. In statements to REPORTER, Ms. Evangelia Poulla claimed that the Archbishop and nine archpriests 'deviated from the dogmas of the Orthodox Faith' by recognizing the Pope as a Church.
Ms. Poulla linked these actions to the Synod in Kolympari in 2016, arguing that it did not recognize the dogmas of previous Ecumenical Synods. She also mentioned historical examples from Cyprus, where resistance against 'Latinization' was maintained thanks to monks.
The next Holy Synod is expected to take place in December, where the issue of elections in the Metropolis of Paphos and the future of Tychikos, who has not signed the confession of faith, will be examined. The elections in the Metropolis of Paphos will be held in January.
