Bar Associations Call for Repeal of Joint Custody Provision

The Plenum of Bar Associations of Greece is calling for the immediate repeal of the provision on joint custody of children, as amended by the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni.

In a statement, the Plenum expresses concerns about the purpose of the provision, which it considers poorly drafted and creating procedural confusion and legal uncertainty.

They emphasize that amendments to the Codes should be made sparingly and after full consultation, which was not observed in this particular case, as the amendment was incorporated into a Bill with unrelated content, without public consultation.

The Plenum calls on the State to immediately repeal the provision and ensure meaningful consultation with stakeholders before any changes to the Codes.
