Court Rejects Suspension for 'Golden' Passports

The Administrative Court has rejected a request to suspend the Council of Ministers' decision to revoke citizenship from individuals subject to EU sanctions due to the situation in Ukraine.
The decision concerns individuals who acquired citizenship through the Cyprus Investment Programme, which ended on November 1, 2020. The applicants sought a suspension of the citizenship revocation decision pending the final examination of their appeal.
The court rejected the applicants' claims and agreed with the Attorney General that there was no manifest illegality or irreparable harm caused by the Republic's decision.
The case was handled by the Republic's Counsel, Σίμος Π. Πλατής.
