Damianos Explains: The €500,000 and Open AI Collaboration

The Deputy Minister of Research and Innovation, Michalis Damianos, provided explanations regarding the €500,000 mentioned in the video involving the resigned Director of the President's Office, Charalambos Charalambous. As he stated on Alpha Enimerosi, it concerns negotiations with Open AI for a pilot artificial intelligence program in schools.

Open AI proposed a collaboration with an American investor for a donation to the Republic of Cyprus. Mr. Damianos emphasized that the process is institutionalized and transparent, and it had been announced in a press conference with Irene Piki.

Mr. Damianos rejected criticisms about government interference and stated that there is nothing reprehensible in the video. He clarified that the government investigated who could contribute the money for the good of society. He denied that the country's image is being damaged and spoke of an edited video.

He also mentioned that two European countries are already cooperating with OPEN AI.
