Archbishop: "Makarios' legacy is the only solution"

Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus stated that the legacy of Archbishop Makarios III is the only solution to overcome the current impasse. The statement was made on the sidelines of the annual religious memorial service at the Holy Monastery of Kykkos.

Asked about the timelessness of Makarios' legacy, Archbishop Georgios emphasized the need to uphold his principles, as they represent the only path to resolving the problems.

"So many times we have tried other paths, the path of continuous concessions without leading anywhere. We hope that what he left us as a final legacy, that it is a matter of invasion and occupation, a matter of human rights, to follow it so that we can escape and remain as Hellenism in this place," he stated.
