Israeli Ambassador Clash with AKEL over Anti-Semitism Claims

The Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus, Oren Anolik, has accused AKEL of a "misleading campaign" and "distortion" of his statements regarding anti-Semitic rhetoric.
In a post on X, Mr. Anolik referred to statements by a political leader, without naming him, regarding the "uncontrolled sale of real estate to citizens of third countries" and the creation of "ghettos" by Israeli citizens, as well as a "targeted policy of Israeli expansion in Cyprus."
Ambassador Anolik stressed that criticism of the Israeli government's policy is legitimate, but targeting a community based on its identity is unacceptable. He called on Cypriot citizens not to be misled by this campaign.
Mr. Anolik's statements followed reports by AKEL Secretary-General Stefanos Stefanou regarding the dangers of the uncontrolled sale of real estate to foreign nationals, with specific reference to practices followed by Israeli nationals.
