Turkish Cypriot politicians and activists are expressing strong reactions following the decision of the "military court" in the occupied territories to "acquit" the five Greek Cypriots who had been arrested and detained since July. The "court's" decision in occupied Nicosia was based on a lack of evidence for violating a "military forbidden zone."

Republican Turkish Party (RTP) MP, Asım Akansoy, expressed "joy but also deep sadness," calling the case a "clear conspiracy" and a "legal disgrace." Similar statements were made by Şener Elcil, a member of the "Cypriot Movement for Peace and Solidarity," who called the case "staged."

Turkish Cypriot newspapers, such as 'Star,' 'Yeni Bakış,' and 'Yeni Düzen,' reported that "Judge" Tutku Candaş justified the decision due to the "prosecution's" failure to prove its claims. 'Yeni Düzen' noted the duration of the detention with the headline 'Acquittal on the 111th Day.'
