Reactions in T/C community to detention of 5 Greek Cypriots

Strong reactions are being expressed by politicians, academics, and legal experts in the Turkish Cypriot community regarding the continued detention of five Greek Cypriots in the occupied territories.

In a joint statement, Izzet Izcan, president of the "United Cyprus" Party, and the Cypriot Movement for Peace and Solidarity condemned a disinformation campaign against them for proposing to guarantee the release of the five Greek Cypriots.

They point out that innocent people should not be used, simply because they are Greek Cypriots, as political hostages. They also referred to a sub-administration of Turkey in the occupied territories that maintains the property problem.
