Reactions in occupied territories to new taxi licenses

Professional associations in the occupied territories are reacting to the issuance of 2500 new taxi licenses, calling it "pre-election". The Turkish Cypriot Travel Agents Association (KITSAB) stated that the licenses were granted "one day before the pre-election bans" to relatives, friends, and members of KEE without consultation.
In a statement, KITSAB described the decision as a "severe blow to the tourism sector". The "Public Transport Association (KTTTB)" requested the publication of the names of the beneficiaries and explanations for the approval of the licenses a few days before the "elections". The federation of Turkish Cypriot taxi driver associations also criticized the licenses, arguing that they would worsen the sector.
The federation of Turkish Cypriot taxi driver associations wonders "on what basis were these licenses issued when there was clearly no such need?" and warned that it would exercise all its rights if the licenses are not revoked.
