Reactions in Occupied Territories to Erdoğan's Visit

The recent visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the occupied territories, marking the 51st anniversary of the Turkish invasion, sparked various reactions within the Turkish Cypriot community. While some viewed it as routine, others expressed concerns about the dignity and political future of Turkish Cypriots.
Asım Akansoy of the RTP stated that the visit was not surprising, confirming Ankara's consistent line for a two-state solution. Fikri Toros also described the visit as routine, while noting Erdoğan's emphasis on peace.
Mehmet Hasgüler strongly criticized the characterization of the historic "presidential building" as a "shack" and the underestimation of the demographic issue. He pledged that, if elected, he would conduct a population census under international monitoring and visit President Nikos Christodoulides in Nicosia.
