Archbishop Georgios announced that proposals for changes to the Charter of the Church of Cyprus will be on the table at the next session of the Holy Synod on January 8.

Speaking to RIK, he mentioned that his proposal to change the way hierarchs are elected, so that they are elected by the Holy Synod, excluding the Archbishop, will be discussed.

The issue of the monks of the Holy Monastery of Saint Avvakoum and the validity of the sacraments they perform will also be discussed.

Regarding Bishop of Karpasia Christoforos, Archbishop Georgios noted that there is no complaint, but it will be examined if one is submitted.

The complaint against Bishop of Karpasia for transferring money from an association to personal accounts, amounting to over 110 thousand euros, according to lawyer Elena Fragkou Antoniadou, is recalled.

The complainant claims that the Bishop of Karpasia illegally amended the statute in 2019.

The secretary testified to the Limassol Police, and testimonies from other persons are expected.
