AKEL: Tax Reform Cannot Proceed with Ultimatums

AKEL has called on President Christodoulides to understand that tax reform cannot proceed with ultimatums. In a written statement, Haris Polycarpou, head of AKEL's economic sector, emphasized that the government should have sought dialogue with political parties for the past two years, instead of making public announcements.

AKEL notes that, following its own insistence, a meeting was scheduled in September to submit proposals. The announcement emphasizes that the reform must proceed, but should not burden workers and society.
