Turkish Cypriot Leader Tufan Erhürman's First Visit to Ankara

The new Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman, had his first telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after his election in the occupied territories. Erdoğan congratulated Erhürman on his "election" success. The new T/C leader's first visit will be to Ankara.
The swearing-in ceremony of Tufan Erhürman will take place on Friday in an extraordinary session of the "parliament", as announced by the "speaker" of the body, Ziya Öztürkler. Mr. Öztürkler also congratulated Erhürman and expressed his belief that he will perform his duties with an administrative approach that embraces all sections of society.
Mustafa Akıncı stated that the election of Tufan Erhürman brought relief to the majority of Turkish Cypriots, noting that an extension of the previous situation could lead to a point of no return. According to Turkish Cypriot media, Akıncı also referred to Devlet Bahçeli's call for annexation, highlighting the importance of the change.
Akıncı also referred to the 2020 elections and the influence of Falyalı.
