Ypsonas: Premises to remain closed after fire
Share on:

The premises in Ypsonas, where a major fire and dangerous explosions of flammable materials occurred, will not reopen due to violation of operating conditions, according to the Mayor of Kourion, Pantelis Georgiou.

As he stated on 'Proino Dromologio' radio show, the premises had a permit as a warehouse for stationery and aluminum, and the existence of containers with gas canisters was unknown. Mr. Georgiou mentioned that an annual inspection of the premises is carried out for the renewal of the operating license.

To prevent similar incidents, the Municipality and the competent state services will conduct inspections of premises near residential areas, and violators will be brought to justice. The damages to neighboring houses are not significant and will be recorded by a municipal team, while the provision of assistance will be considered.
