Forest Fires Under Control in Agia Varvara and Anarita, Paphos

Forest fires in the communities of Agia Varvara and Anarita, in the Paphos district, were brought under full control on Sunday.

According to an announcement by the Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, the fires broke out at 10:20 am and were brought under control at 11:30 am.

In Agia Varvara, one hectare covered with stubble was burned, while in Anarita one tenth of a hectare covered with shrubs and low wild vegetation was burned.

The extinguishing effort involved 4 people from the Department of Forests with one fire truck, 4 people from the Fire Service with two vehicles, and 2 people from the Game and Fauna Service with one vehicle.

The causes of the fires are under investigation.
