Limassol Fire Victims to Receive Compensation Starting Tomorrow

The Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, met with the Community Leaders of the fire-stricken areas in the Limassol district, in Kivides, to discuss the progress of restoration measures.
The payment of the first compensations to the beneficiaries begins tomorrow, while the damage assessment is progressing rapidly. Mr. Ioannou thanked ETEK for their contribution to the damage assessment.
According to the Minister, solutions are being examined for unlicensed properties, prioritizing those located in residential areas, in cooperation with the EOA Limassol. Those who cannot be licensed will receive 25% of the compensation.
Emphasis is placed on cleaning up materials and restoring the damage, with skips being requisitioned where needed, in cooperation with the Department of Environment. Cleaning has already begun in community areas.
The Minister also referred to instructions to be given for additional cleanings and inspections, as well as the examination of the reintroduction of the rural guard institution and the use of technology (drones) to identify illegal landfills.
