The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (ΥΠΑΝ) has announced a reduction in curriculum content and streamlining of analytical programs for the 2025-2026 school year. Minister of Education, Athina Michaelidou, presented the initiatives at a press conference.

The goal is to develop a modern and inclusive school with an emphasis on skills, mental resilience, and new institutions. The placement of social workers in schools with high delinquency rates and the strengthening of the autonomy of school units are being promoted.

In addition, the Work Week in the 2nd Lyceum (B΄ Λυκείου) is being reintroduced, the number of school units in the ΔΡΑ.Σ.Ε.+ program is increasing (56 kindergartens and 98 primary schools), and remedial teaching of functional literacy is being expanded to 80 secondary schools.

Emphasis is placed on the Greek language, Civics Education (Αγωγή του Πολίτη), and the creation of a policy for gifted students. The operation of the Technical Gymnasium and the upgrading of Sports and Music Schools are being promoted.

All actions aim to modernize education and create a school that meets the needs of students and society.
