Ministry of Transport Clarifies: No Unjustified Funds for Paphos-Polis Road

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works assures that no unjustified funds will be granted to contractors for public works, referring to posts about the Paphos ā Polis Chrysochous road.
In a statement, the Ministry emphasizes that the priority is the restart of projects under sustainable terms. Criticism of the termination of contracts ignores that the contract for the Paphos ā Polis Chrysochous road was terminated because the contractor submitted excessive demands.
Indicatively, for a project worth ā¬73 million, compensation of ā¬36 million and an extension of 59 months were requested, without any legal right, according to the Central Committee for Changes and Demands. The Government exhausted the negotiation margins before the termination.
