The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Marios Hadjisoteriou, stated that lapses have been recorded in the management of the deadly fire in mountainous Limassol. According to the minister, these omissions have been documented to prevent recurrence in similar cases.

Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference in Nicosia, Mr. Hadjisoteriou mentioned that specific issues have been identified, which have been reflected in the reports of the competent services and in the responses to the members of parliament. He acknowledged that in a disaster of such intensity, it is impossible to control everything perfectly, but stressed the need for readiness and minimization of omissions.

Referring to the ATF report, Mr. Hadjisoteriou stated that it is respected and has been made public. Asked about the possibility of a reshuffle, he replied that it is a matter for the President of the Republic, while ministers must implement the government program and mitigate the consequences of the fire.

The Minister of Justice emphasized that the Ministry has provided significant resources to the Fire Service and the Cyprus Police, but this particular disaster was unprecedented.
