Hannides: Christos Christou is a member of Tamasos' Throne Committee

Marios Hannides, a member of EDEK and a member of the Throne Committee of the Metropolis of Tamasos since 2018, confirmed that Christos Christou, President of ELAM, is also a member of the committee. The statements were made on state radio amid reports regarding the Abbakoum Monastery.

Mr. Hannides stated that although he has been a member since 2018, his name does not appear on the Metropolis' website, which has not been updated. He also confirmed that all members of the committee have the necessary certifications.

"The faithful demand respect, no one has the right to exploit them. The Metropolitan made this big decision with heartache," said Mr. Hannides, adding that the appointment to the committee is for life and that people from many political parties participate.

In conclusion, he expressed his personal opinion that political parties should not interfere in church matters.
