A day of remembrance and sorrow for Cyprus, marking 51 years since the Turkish invasion. Christos Poullaidis, displaced from the village of Vatyili, shared a poignant message.

In his message, Mr. Poullaidis states: "On Wednesday, August 14, 1974, at 2:30 p.m., the Turkish army, codenamed Attila 2, advanced further to increase the occupation of Cyprus and expel more Cypriots from their homes! I became one of the 200,000 refugees in our own country!".

Mr. Poullaidis adds: "We left with our families from my village of Vatyili in Famagusta at 2:30 p.m. to save our lives!!! Lest we forget!!! 51 years have passed and we are still waiting to return to our homes!!! Please allow us to return to Vatyili and Famagusta. We left our souls there!!! IS ANYONE LISTENING?"
