Vafiadis: Common Desire for Dhenia-Astromeritis Road

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafiadis, stated that there is unanimity and a common desire to construct the Dhenia – Astromeritis road, aiming to combat urban sprawl.

Following a meeting with representatives of the Morphou - Soleas - Marathasa communities, Mr. Vafiadis recalled a previous protest by residents of the villages of Akaki, Peristerona, Astromeritis.

The Government's desire is to have consensus on how the project will be implemented, and a new meeting with the community leaders will follow.

Regarding the port of Larnaca, works are progressing according to plan, including the dredging of the marina and the architectural competition.

For the Paphos – Polis Chrysochous road, Mr. Vafiadis stated that the first phase has been terminated and legal reactions are expected, which they will manage.

Regarding bus inspections, the Minister explained that the document checks are carried out by the teachers, while the technical inspection is carried out by the competent workshop.

Finally, regarding vehicles with TAKATA airbags, he emphasized that any intervention that modifies the vehicle's components is illegal and leads to the loss of the certificate of suitability.
