Fatal Car Crash in Larnaca: 80-Year-Old Drove Against Traffic

A fatal car accident occurred today on the highway near Larnaca. According to the police, at approximately 11:15, a vehicle driven by an 80-year-old Greek Cypriot resident of a community in Larnaca, drove against the flow of traffic on the highway from the Rizoelias roundabout towards the Kalo Chorio Larnaca roundabout.

The vehicle collided head-on with a taxi driven by a 55-year-old European citizen, a permanent resident of Nicosia, who was driving normally. The 80-year-old was fatally injured, while the taxi driver was seriously injured, but his condition is not a cause for concern. The deceased is Anastasios Michaelas from Aradippou.

Both drivers were taken to Larnaca General Hospital by ambulances, where the 80-year-old was pronounced dead. Traffic on the highway has been restored.
