Cyprus: Outdoor Work Stoppage Due to Heatwave

The Department of Labour Inspection (DLI) announced that due to high temperatures and an orange warning, outdoor work must be stopped between 12:00-16:00.
The stoppage concerns heavy and moderate work, as well as the transport of goods by two-wheeled vehicles or scooters in areas below 300 meters altitude (more than 10 km from the coast) and mountainous areas above 1150 meters.
For other cases, the DLI reminds employers to measure thermal load parameters and adjust work accordingly. It recommends organizing breaks in shaded areas, avoiding strenuous work during hot hours, providing cool water, and using appropriate clothing.
Additionally, the importance of training workers on the risks and protection measures against high temperatures is emphasized.
