Arrest for 49 PlayStation 5 Consoles in Occupied Territories: Allegations of Poor Detention Conditions

A Cypriot citizen was arrested in the occupied territories on May 30th, along with a friend, at the Ayios Dhometios checkpoint, while attempting to cross into the occupied areas. The reason for the arrest was the transportation of 49 Playstation 5 consoles.
According to the 34-year-old, the consoles were legal and had been declared at the customs office of the Republic of Cyprus. However, the 'customs officials' of the pseudo-state initially stated they would keep the consoles and then said they would be collected from the headquarters.
The 34-year-old told SigmaLive that the two remained 'invisible' and that despite informing the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus, nothing was done for their release. Currently, they are 'free' on bail from the so-called Court of the occupied territories.
The Cypriot citizen also denounced the appalling detention conditions in occupied Trikomo, stating that despite being a chronic patient and taking daily medication, the 'police' did not take this into account. 'Our friends brought us food and gave it to us the next day. They offered us drinking water from the garbage.' Furthermore, he claimed that the 'police' forcibly cut the cross he wore around his neck.
