Nicosia Hospital Staff Strike Over Fixed-Term Contract Terminations

Members of the Pancyprian Union ISOTITA are holding a one-hour work stoppage at Nicosia General Hospital on September 4th at 11:00 AM, protesting the Ministry of Finance's decision to terminate the secondments of Fixed-Term Employees (EAX).

The ISOTITA Sectoral Council for Clerical and Office Staff emphasizes that the selective application of Law 99(I)/2019 creates discrimination, as permanent employees with similar duties remain in their positions under Law 73(I)/2017.

The union warns that the removal of experienced employees on October 1, 2025, will cause operational gaps, degrade patient service, and endanger the smooth operation of public hospitals.
