Rare 'Glory' Phenomenon Spotted in Cyprus Sky

A rare optical phenomenon known as 'Glory' was observed in the sky of Cyprus on Sunday (25/1) during a period of heavy rainfall.
According to a post on the 'Weather Enthusiasts of Cyprus' page, the phenomenon, resembling a circular rainbow, was visible from the Machairas region.
The Glory phenomenon appears as a halo around the observer's shadow on clouds or fog. It is created by the backscattering of light on tiny water droplets, forming concentric rings with red on the outside and blue on the inside.
Although it resembles a circular rainbow, the Glory phenomenon has a smaller diameter and is caused by different physical processes.
